Nibbled — Privacy Policy

Summary
Nibbled does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your nutrition data stays on your device.
Data Storage
All data you enter into Nibbled — food entries, custom foods, recipes, goals, and preferences — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. No data is stored on external servers.
If you use Apple's iCloud Backup, your local app data may be included in your device backup according to your iOS settings. This backup is encrypted and managed by Apple — Nibbled does not control or access your iCloud backups.
Data Collection
Nibbled does not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, address, phone number)
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Crash reports or diagnostics
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Voluntary Communications
If you contact us for support via email, we will only use your email address and any information you provide to resolve your issue. We do not use support emails for marketing or add them to any mailing lists.
Platform Analytics
Apple may collect crash reports and app usage data if you have opted into sharing analytics with developers in your iOS device settings. This data is aggregated and anonymized by Apple, and is governed by Apple's privacy policies. Nibbled does not independently collect any analytics or diagnostics.
Third-Party Services
Nibbled connects to the following external services solely to look up food nutrient data:
- USDA FoodData Central — to search for food nutrient information. Only your search query is sent. No personal data is transmitted.
- Open Food Facts — to look up packaged food products by barcode or name. Only the barcode number or search query is sent. No personal data is transmitted.
No account or authentication is required for either service.
Camera
Nibbled uses your device camera solely for barcode scanning to look up packaged food products. No images or video are captured, stored, or transmitted. All camera processing happens locally on your device. Camera access is requested only when you tap the barcode scan button and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.
Apple HealthKit
If you choose to enable HealthKit integration, Nibbled writes nutrient data to Apple Health on your device. This data is governed by Apple's HealthKit privacy policies and stays on your device (or syncs via iCloud if you have that enabled in iOS settings — this is controlled by Apple, not by Nibbled).
Nibbled does not read data from HealthKit. It only writes nutrient data you explicitly log.
HealthKit integration is optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time in Settings.
Data Export
You can export your data at any time in Markdown, CSV, JSON, or PDF format. Export is initiated by you and the exported file stays on your device until you choose to share it.
Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from Settings → Data Management → Delete All Data. This permanently removes all food entries, custom foods, recipes, goals, and preferences from your device. Data already written to Apple HealthKit is not affected — you can delete that separately from the Apple Health app.
Children's Privacy
Nibbled is designed for adults. We recommend that users under 18 use the app with parental or guardian guidance. The app does not knowingly collect any data from children or adults.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
